Prescriptions

If your doctor has prescribed medication which he/she wishes you take on a regular basis you may be issued with repeat prescriptions without seeing a GP each time.

Important – please allow 2 clear working days, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays for all repeat prescription requests.

You may re-order these by:

  • Online – Click here
  • By Post (please allow time for your request to reach us)
  • In person by placing in request box at the surgery.  Please note we do not take prescription requests over the phone

To use our online repeat prescription ordering system you will have to come into the practice to be allocated your log in and password. You will be required to provide 2 forms of identification. One that gives your current address and one with a recent photograph. Please ask at reception.

Once you have your new log in details you can sign up following the link on the bottom of the home page.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £8.60
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £104.00
  • 3-month PPC: £29.10

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed.
